The history of the hotel and nearby

Hotel Aida is located two minutes of walking from the underground station where there is a farmer’s market every Wednesday. We also recommend visiting the Prague ZOO, botanical garden and the Troja Castle.

The zoo was founded in 1931 in the Troja Hollow. It is approximately 50 hectares big and you can see more than 500 kinds of animals there. The garden is divided into two parts by a high stone wall. There is a 106 meter long cable railway. There have been several modern pavilions built in the recent years; the one with Indonesian jungle attracts most attention. Prague ZOO is world famous for its breeding of the Przewalski horse, lowland gorillas, and other endangered species.

The Prague Botanical Garden is located in the beautiful environment of the Troja Basin. It has been opened for public only since 1992. A very nice Japanese garden is also part of the garden. A tropical greenhouse called Fata Morgana was built in the garden. It is 130 meter long and 13 meter wide.
The greenhouse is divided into three parts and there is a variety of colorful exotic butterflies flying around every spring. One of its three parts represents tropical rain forests and you can also find a 7-meter waterfall there.

In the close vicinity of the ZOO is a Troja Castle. It is one of the most beautiful baroque castles from the 17th century in the Czech Republic. The main hall of the castle is decorated by monumental fresco paintings depicting the winning of the Habsburgs over Turks near Vienna. There is also a spectacular staircase decorated by statues and leading directly to the vast and well-kept French park with terracotta vases. The park is easily accessible during castle’s opening hours. It offers beautiful views of the castle itself as well as the vineyard with St.Claire’s chapel. In the middle of the park, there is a fountain with waterworks and on the side of the park, there is a garden maze.

If you are keen on shopping, we can recommend the biggest shopping park in Prague – Shopping Center Letňany. You can also visit the local water park called Aquacentrum – with a swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and fitness center.
